What is this site all about?
Languages and Linguistics is about (human) languages, including constructed languages. You can ask questions about specific languages, about language concepts, or about linguistics.
What are the rules on this site?
Languages and Linguistics is a part of the Codidact network, and members should follow the Codidact TOS and Code of Conduct. If you have any questions about either of these, feel free to post on either of our Metas.
In general, follow common sense: Be polite, and please assume the most charitable interpretation of what people on this site say. (Bear in mind that many are not native English speakers and might not realize what they said is rude.)
Why can't I post a question?
You may not have verified your account yet. Make sure you've clicked the link sent to your email when you registered or re-verify using the "Verify" button on your profile. If you're still having trouble, message one of the mods or reach out to the team using the community Discord server.
What are the different categories for?
Our Q&A category is where you can post any questions you have related to languages or linguistics.
Our Resources category contains resources relating to linguistics and languages, including learning material. If you can't find what you're looking for, feel free to create a new resource post yourself!
Our Meta is where you can post bug reports, discussions about site policy, or any other feedback you have.
